I arranged to have an older sports coat taken in to fit better. Everyone at the store was very professional, and quoted me $110, which I paid.The store sent me an email to confirm and I noticed that I had been charged sales tax of $9.35 I didn't think sales tax was charged on repairs, so I looked it up and found that it should not have been charged. From the California Tax Guide ***************************************************************************** Example:Your customer brings in a suit and asks you to make size adjustments. The suit doesn't have tags or labels attached and has clearly been worn. The alteration service charge is considered repair labor and is not taxable.I called the store and they said they could not help and gave me a corporate number. I called (and waited 25 minutes) and spoke with a very helpful and pleasant customer service rep ******* ********* who agreed that it was not appropriate but ultimately said that there was nothing that they could do. They did offer that amount in rewards points but I do not and do not wish to join the rewards program. Men's Wearhouse needs to remedy this glitch in their system. If they can refund my $9.35, that would be nice too.Business Response

I placed an order for a suit,shoes, and a belt. 6 days after the order was placed (and one day after it was supposed to arrive) I received an email telling me my order was cancelled. When I tried to contact support I was bounced around between AI chat bots and various representatives all of which were telling me different reasons why the order was cancelled. I have a wedding in two weeks which is what the suit order was for, I am now short on time to get another suit and when I asked Mens Warehouse if there was a guarantee my new order would not be cancelled they said there was no way to guarantee if they actually had the items their website says they have.Business Response

April 11 25 I went to mens wearhouse and purchased a suit. I was fitted in store for the suit and tried it on before I purchased it. I explicitly asked about the return policy because it was calling for rain in the evening. I explained to the *** that the event may cancel and I would like to return the suit. He told me it was a 90 day policy if I wasnt satisfied with my purchase. He didnt go into to details about what needed to happen before returning my purchase. I got home got dressed and was waiting to leave. The event got cancelled so I took the suit off and packed it back up. The store was already closed. I waited till the morning and I attempted to return the suit. I was told they wouldnt accept the return because it was already wore and dirty. This was a black suit white shirt and a green tie. I didnt attempt to return the white shirt. I tried the shirt on in store after getting off work. When I took it off in store it already showed signs of it being worn. The suit was black and tie was green I wore in store and got dress at home. I didnt leave the store wearing the suit nor did I leave my home wearing the suit. I requested a full refund based on the return policy. The policy is 90 day return with receipt if you are not satisfied with your purchase. I escalated the matter to cooperate who told me the cannot make the store accept the return. The return is base on the store discretion and they reached out to the store manager. He then told them that his decision was final and at this point theres nothing the **************** can do about it. I am requesting a full refund of my purchase. The manager told corporate *** his decision was based on the suit being worn. The suit was worn at the store and when I got dressed at home. It was not worn anywhere else. The manager claimed the suit was dirty so I sent corporate a picture of the suit. I have not heard anything back and Im afraid I will not get a refund. I purchased a suit and the sales clerk removed the tags before I left the store. And when I went back later to try and return the suit my refund was denied based on the sole fact that the tags had been removed. We have spoken with the store manager, *****, at the store 1310 where the purchase was made. ***** informed that the purchase in question was heavily soiled with food substances and odors. ***** advised he can accept the return back with the condition of the suit must be dry cleaned with dry clean tag attached and provided that offer in person to ***** *******.
Please know that the tags were removed at the customer's request as our management team was advised his event was next day and the garment altered. Our return policy on worn and altered clothing is '' Returns/exchanges on altered or worn clothing are subject to store management's sole discretion.'' This can be found at ******************************************************** under ''Men's Wearhouse In-Store Return & Exchange Policy'' .
We have made several (4) attempts to reach the customer , ***** *******, regarding his return for refund request from our store, however, we have not received any response, nor had our store manager, *****.
As we've not received any replies from ***** *******, we are considering this matter closed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.Your reply states "tags were removed at customer's request" I never requested that the tags be removed. The clerk that was helping me walked off with the garments and came back with them and checked me out. And you also state that the "garment altered" The garment was not tailored or hemmed in any way. And as for next day event. When I tried to originally return the items my event had not happened yet. And was over a week out. So there is no reason that the tags should have been removed for this reason.

Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the poor customer service I experienced at the Mens Wearhouse location in *****************, ** on March 14, 2025.On January 17, 2025, I purchased a suit jacket for my cousins funeral. Unfortunately, it did not fit, so I wore a different jacket instead. Since I was not feeling well after the funeral, I waited until I felt up to making the return, knowing that Mens Wearhouse has a 90-day return policy.When I returned to the store today, March 14, 2025, the manager was extremely rude and dismissive during the return process. Although I had removed the tags when I initially planned to wear the jacket, I never actually wore it. Despite this, the manager treated me as if I was doing something wrong, making the process far more difficult than necessary.While the return was ultimately processed, the lack of professionalism and poor customer service I experienced was disappointing. If you are going to grant a return why provide attitude to a potential returning customer.This experience is especially disheartening because I have been a longtime Mens Wearhouse customer, frequently purchasing and renting clothing from them. Additionally, I am planning a wedding in the next year, and Mens Wearhouse was my first choice for formalwear. However, this experience has soured my perception of the company and made me reconsider whether I want to continue my business with them.I am requesting the BBBs assistance in ensuring that:1.Mens Wearhouse addresses the managers poor customer service and provides proper training on handling returns professionally.2.The company reinforces consistent enforcement of their return policy across all locations so that customers are not treated unfairly.I hope that Mens Wearhouse takes this complaint seriously and takes steps to improve the customer experience at their ***************** location. Men's Wearhouse has reached out to the following customer several times by phone and email, from both our ************** and the store location listed in the complaint #****. However, we have not received any response and calls went unanswered.

We did provide our customer with 2 $50 reward certificates on the reward account ********* with Men's Wearhouse. Those certificate numbers are: 1000501369247641 and 1000501369247657 with an expiration of November 1 2025.
Additionally, on March 14th 2025, Mr. ******* was refunded in transaction *****38*61461 for $461.99 which was the full merchandise purchase amount from the transaction on January 17th 2025 *****38*60530.
We do consider this matter closed as we have reached out to Mr. ******** refunded the transaction that was one of the basis for complaint and compensated Mr. ******* with those 2 $50 reward certificates.

March 7, 2025 Mens Warehouse Fit Rewards program. I called mens warehouse customers service before we got started to ask about the fit rewards and the agent told me that they had a ***** dollar reward for rentals but it had went up to *****. Me and my brother, my son and my grandson went to the store in *************, ******. The sales clerk was very helpful and she did a good job job at helping us with our fitting. We picked out a ****** package. We we happy with the package because we were all in the fit rewards programs so we knew we would get sixty to seventy dollars off the suits. But when we came to the cashier, I was first, she informed me that my price was ******. I asked her to put the fit rewards on there thats when things went wrong, she informed me that the rewards were taken out automatically and when I continued to question her she couldn't give me any answers. My problem was it didn't show on the receipt that the rewards money had been taken out I was very confused. The same thing happened to my brother, then it happened to my son and grandson. We felt we were deceived because the sales clerk informed us we were getting a ****** package she didn't say anything about the rewads were automatically taking out for suits. On Feb ******* our family went to look for my husband a vest and pant set the associate that helped us was great. The vest my husband wanted had to be ordered due to them not having his size. The associate recommended an 4x since it was a slim fit ordered the suit and it came ***** within 3-4 days perfect. We dont need the vest until March 12th. So we got the vest and it was huge!!!!! So that March 2nd we went back to exchange the vest and get a 3x ordered. The vest was supposed to arrive Wednesday through ***** I do not know why it was sent through ***** My vest is now stuck in ************ and no date on when it will be here! I need it by Wednesday and it doesnt appear it will be here! This is a huge inconvenience my husband does not have a backup option! I ordered a $75 E-gift card and they messed up so were not able to deliver and were to issue a credit. They also added an $8 delivery fee which was to be removed but again they did not do this. I emailed about this but they did not respond so I called and they state they are going to issue a refund but it may take 10 days I have waited the 10 days then call again three times and each time they say they are going to issue the credit but do not. Approximately 1 year ago I purchased a custom-made suit from the Men's Warehouse in *******. With this purchase I was told that free alterations came with the life of the suit. 6 months ago, I stopped in for some alterations and was "lied" to stating that alterations were not needed, and all I needed was a pair of braces to help keep the pants up. Today, 2/22/25 I stopped back for alterations, put on the suit, saw the seamstress and was dismissed withing 30 seconds and was told that nothing can be done. I asked to speak to a Manager, and after the Manager speaking with the seamstress came back and stated that nothing can be done. I again explained that I purchased this suit under the premise that it came with free alterations for the life of the suit, he provided nothing but excuses, and then stated that they were not responsible for upholding the guarantee because they are under new ownership, and they "do things by the book." On November 10, 2024, I went into men's wearhouse to purchase a suit for a wedding for the next weekend. They ended up not having the suit pants I wanted, so I purchased the suit jacket and they ordered pants the same color as the jacket because I needed a black suit. I did the 3 day rush shipping so it would be here on time and I was told that it would be here on Wednesday and have plenty of time to alter the suit to my fitting. It ended up not getting here till Thursday the 14th. When I tried it on, the employee messed up and ordered suit bottoms that were grey and not black. Because of this s**** up I could not get the suit that I had paid for and had a contract in purchasing. They had no pants that fit me to go with the suit and the wedding was in 2 days so I couldn't ship anything else. The only thing that fit was a black suit in their luxury collection that was $350 more expensive than the suit I ordered. I told them this was not my fault and that the employee screwed up and they need to make it right. They said unfortunately there is nothing they can do and I had to buy the more expensive suit because I was in a bind because of them. All they said was they are going to do a lot more trainings for the employees. Because of this, they need to make right the $350 dollars more I had to spend because of their screwup or I am filing a lawsuit for breach of contract and unfair business practices. They screwed the shipping up, the suit up, all my measurements up, and they don't wanna make it right. I'd rather take care of this now instead of filing lawsuit, but I will if I have to.Business Response
